MLA Format
Before you even start your Research Paper, you have to MLA format your Word Document. Click the picture on the right to see video on how to do it.
Step 1
Now that you've seen the video on how to properly format you’re Word Document, its time to come up with a topic/question for you to research. The question has to be a question that you don’t know the answer to. It also can’t have a yes or no answer to it. See Figure 1 for example.
Step 2
Owl.english.purdue.edu is going to be a big help to you. This website will help with your mla and work cited for your Research Paper. I recommend you use this website or you'll have trouble without it. Click the picture to the right to be directed to the website.
Step 3
Step 3 would be to do your work cited for all your articles, the play, and the movie. For this step you must go to the owl website that will guide you on how to do this. Click the picture in Step 2 to direct you to the website.
Step 4
Step 4 would be to pick out 1 quotes from each of your articles, 1 from the movie and 1 from the play that your are going to use for the research paper. These quotes are going to be the main topic each paragraph of your Research Paper. Therefore make sure that they work for your Research paper or you’re going to have to start looking for new quotes and you'll have to your work cited all over again.
Step 5
For this step, you going to set up 4 sentences. The 1st sentence should start with "The main idea of this paragraph is about..." than you write the main idea. This will also be your topic sentence. The 2nd sentence should be a quote from one of your articles. It should start out with "(the author's name) said" than the quote with the Parenthetical citation. The 3rd sentence is going to explain why you think that quote supports the thesis. For the last sentence you have to add transition words and phrases.
Transition Words and Phrases
Add Transition Words and Phrases to your paragraphs. This would make your Research Paper sound more interesting. Download the file below for example of some Transition Words and Phrases that you could use.

Step 7
For this step, your going to start to write your introduction paragraph. You have to copy and paste the topic sentence from your paragraphs like you see on the image on the right. Than you have to rewrite all of the sentences and out them in your own words.
Step 8
In step 8 you have to do your intro and concluding paragraph. For the intro paragraph, you have been showed how to do it already but for the conclusion, you basically just summarize your research paper and put down your final thoughts about it.
Step 9
