On the first day of school, you read letters from students from the class of 2011. The purpose of the letters was to provide you with students' perspectives on what to expect in class and how to successfully meet those expectations. Now it is your turn to write a letter advising the incoming seniors how to be successful based on your experiences this year.
Your final reflection is to be written as a letter addressed to the students from the class of 2011. The final reflection is worth 30% of your final exam grade. Therefore, it is expected to be well-written. For each error, 1 points will be deducted from your grade. Also, the minimum word length is 500 words. One point will be deducted for each word less than 500.
Be sure to
- follow proper friendly letter format and style (Dear ____, paragraph, & Sincerely,) 10%
- introduce yourself 10%
- describe your experience in class 20%
- explain two life lessons learned (responsibility, organization, communication, problem solving, time-management, etc.) 20%
- explain in detail how these life lessons were addressed in class (Blogs, projects, discussions, essays, and lectures) 20%
- advise the students how to be successful in class 20%
Dear Senior Class of 2013, Congrats on making it this far to your high
school career! Your Senior Year should be one of your best high school year
filled with lasting memories. It's also going to be your most stressful one
too! Well my name is Diana Quintanilla. Shy and quiet girl at first but really
out going and fun person once I open up to people. Well I'm currently finishing
up my Senior Year and making my way up to Graduation in a couple of day and oh
boy I'm happy about it! I will be attending collage to become a Registered
Nurse than Hopefully in the future working my way up to become a Medical
Doctor. This year I took Tech Prep for the 1st time and I'm glad I had Dr.
Griffin as a teacher. His class has taught so much things that I know I'm going
to use in life after high school. I always enjoyed his class too, his teaching
style is way different than any other teacher I have had. It made me understand
all the work more better. I'm pretty sure you'll have a blast in Tech Prep!
Although you can't take your senior year as a joke! You have to stay on top of
all your work and “GITERDUN”. “GITERDUN” is a phrase Dr. Griffin’s would always
say to his students to encourage them to do there work. It means do your work
no matter what and don't procrastinate. That quote came in handy through out
the year. I tend to have horrible memory and every time Dr. Griffin would say
“GITERDUN”, it would remind me that I really have to do this work or I'm going
to end up paying for it later. Another good quote that Dr. Griffin always use
to mention was “KISMET”, which means keep it simple manageable & efficient
through out. That phrase helped me get thought the research paper and collage
essay. Those two assignments had to do with a lot of writing and it helped me
to just keep things simple and straight forward. I'm really glad I had Dr.
Griffin as a teacher because in his class we learned things were definitely
going to use in collage like MLA format and work cited. Now when my time comes
to do that material in collage I wont have to stress about it because I already
know how to do them. Dr. Griffin's class may be a lot of work but it's easy
once you get the hand of it. Every lesson he does is for a reason and you will
use it in the future so pay attention in his class! The advice I could give you
to become successful in his class is just keep your head on school and don't
get lazy. School has to come before anything else. Hope you have a GREAT Senior
Year and Cherish every minute of it. Sincerely, Diana Quintanilla
